D.P. Jindal Group embarked into business activity long back in 1970. The first venture of the Group, Jindal Pipes Limited., was set up in Ghaziabad, for manufacture of Mild Steel, ERW and Black Galvanised steel pipes/tubes. Jindal’s are the first and foremost manufacturers of steel pipes and tubes in India. They are also the first to set up fully indigenously designed pipe and tube plant in India. After establishing lead and consolidating their position in steel pipes/tubes, they diversified into tea plantation in 1980, Casing Pipes in 1987, Off Shore Oil Drilling in 1989 and Seamless Pipes in 1992.

PROFILE OF THE PROMOTER

Shri D.P. Jindal is presently the Chairman of all group companies, namely M/s Jindal Pipes Limited, M/s Maharashtra Seamless Limited, M/s Jindal Drilling & Industries Limited & M/s United Seamless & Tubulaar Private Limited, (MSL-Telangana Unit)

Shri D.P. Jindal is an innovative “Always on the move” industrialist. His achievements include indigenous development of tube welder (200 kw capacity) and establishing first state-of-art seamless manufacturing facility in India. He was also responsible for having generated largest tube manufacturing capacity in the country.

Shri D.P. Jindal was awarded the National Unity Award in 1994 for his outstanding services, achievements & contributions to the society. The Business Standard has christened him as “Strategist” giving credit to time-tested and his innovative policies of success.

Closely associated with the representative bodies of trade and industry, Shri D.P. Jindal was Ex-President of Federation of Engineering Industries of India, and Ex Chairman of International Tube Association, India Chapter. He was a nominated member of Board of Governors, Institute of Management Studies, Kurukshetra University.

His philanthropic activities include running a free-medical aid dispensary, an English medium higher secondary school, and giving generous donation for betterment of society. He is always eager to provide further development in the life style and career development of his people.

Shri Saket Jindal, the elder son of Shri D.P. Jindal is the Managing Director of M/s Maharashtra Seamless Limited. As the Managing Director of the company, he sees himself spearheading the globalisation of the company, instituting processes geared towards internationally recognised standards in each aspect of the company’s operation with a special emphasis on finance & fund management as well as people management.

He affirms that day to day values & practices followed at Maharashtra Seamless Limited actually form the core competitive advantages. A sharp focus on cost effectiveness, high level of employee motivation, emphasis on customer satisfaction, insistence on high product quality, consistently high level of customer service and a strong growth orientation.

Shri Raghav Jindal, the younger son of Shri D.P. Jindal. He serves as the Managing Director of M/s Jindal Pipes Limited and M/s Jindal Drilling & Industries Limited. He also holds the position of Director of M/s United Seamless Tubulaar Private Limited, (MSL Telangana Unit)

An MSc in Business Management from the London School of Economics & Political Science, he is the keen observer of the global business scene and determined to turn Jindal Pipes Limited into a leading ERW pipes & tube manufacturer with a high powered team acknowledged for its technical & managerial talent. For the recently acquired company M/s United Seamless Tubulaar Private Limited, he is committed to position USTPL as a premium manufacturer of seamless pipes catering to energy, petrochemical, engineering, construction & other sectors.

He is driven by a philosophy to strengthen the market leadership by capitalizing on opportunities through strategic alliance, acquisitions augmented investments with strong emphasis on safety, quality and commitments, all the while contributing towards a better society, nation and world as a whole.

The brief profile of each of the company is given below:

1. JINDAL PIPES LIMITED (JPL)

Jindal Pipes Ltd. (JPL), the flagship company of the Jindal group was incorporated in 1970 with an installed capacity of 30000 TPA for manufacture of Steel Pipes & Tubes under the brand name of “JINDAL STAR”. Since then, the company has brought phenomenal development in Pipe Manufacturing Process through many innovative measures. Today, it has annual turnover of Approx. Rs. 2635 Crores. Induction of sophisticated state-of-the-art technical know-how and highly motivated & skilled work force have made possible for the company to augment its production capacity to 3,60,000 TPA.

It is now synonymous with India's one of the best and largest manufacturer of ERW, Black and Galvanized Steel Pipes & Tubes in different thickness from 2.00 mm to 12.70 mm having an Outer Diameter ranging from 1/2" to 24" NB at the manufacturing facility in Ghaziabad (Jindal Nagar), UP for the specifications ISI, API, BIS which confirms to the various international standards. M/s Jindal Pipes Limited also has manufacturing facilities at multi locations to cater the demand of the region at Nagothane (Maharashtra), Hyderabad (Telangana), Bellary (Karnataka) & Jharsuguda (Odisha).

2. JINDAL DRILLING & INDUSTRIES LIMITED (JDIL)

Jindal Drilling & Industries Limited (JDIL), part of D.P. Jindal Group. JDIL has to its credits 30 years of operational experience backed by an accomplished staff and crew. With expertise in all areas of Oil & Gas sector coupled with the impeccable quality of service and extensive expertise that the workforce possesses, we are proud to say that JDIL’s workforce is its greatest asset.

JDIL Operations and Services

Offshore Drilling: JDIL achieved nearly a 100% efficiency standard across all its rigs. Paying the highest attention to health & safety regulations of all its workers, JDIL boasts of significantly higher commercial speed that its competitors and other operator owned rigs.

Directional Drilling: JDIL is the first Indian company in providing horizontal & directional drilling services, ever since 2003. Till date, it has successfully drilled 800 plus wells of diverse trajectories and complexities.

Presently 6 contracts are under execution with 8 kits deployed throughout the length & breadth of India.

Mud Logging: Growing from 11 to 23 units in 2018-19, JDIL is biggest Mud Logging Service Provider in North East India and Western onshore India, both being key area for oil & gas exploration in country.

3. MAHARASHTRA SEAMLESS LIMITED (MSL)

Maharashtra Seamless Ltd. (MSL) was incorporated on May 10, 1988. The company wasconceived after noticing huge demand and supply gap in the seamless pipe market, which was met mostly through imports. This import substitute project was set up in 1991 at Nagothane District. Raigad (Maharashtra), to manufacture seamless pipes & tubes with the finest quality and wide product range using the world renowned CPE technology acquired through technical collaboration with Mannesmann Demag Huttentechnik Gmbh (MDH), Germany. Mannesmann Demag is a world leader in steel and seamless pipe industry. Our state of the art plant is only the third of its kind in the world. The plant was commissioned in February 1992. The main plant and machinery was imported from USA based on MDH design. The plant has a present installed capacity to produce 7,00,000 TPA of Carbon & Alloy Steel Hot finished and cold finished Seamless Pipes and size range is from 10.3 mm to 500 mm O.D. (1mm to 40 MM W.T.) and the product and process quality have been recognized by Indian Boiler Regulation (IBR) and American Petroleum Institute (API).

In addition, facilities are also available for heat treatment of sizes ranging from 2 3/8” to 13 3/8” O.D.

In 2004, MSL expanded its Production Facilities, using PLUG MILL technology supported by World Class Reelers, to manufacture for the first time in India large size Seamless Pipes of diameter upto 14” and wall thickness upto 40 mm.

In 2006 and 2007, company has set up coating facility for FBE, DFBE, 3LPE, 3LPP & internal coating for the size 1” to 48” pipes. Coated pipes are generally used for application in cross country pipelines.

MSL plant is strategically located on National Highway No. 17 about 130 Kms from Mumbai at Nagothane, Pipe Nagar, Village Sukeli, Taluka Roha, B.K.G. Road, Distt. Raigad. It possesses around 100 acres of land. It is situated near to major consumption center, which caters to high growth industries. The nearest railway station is at Nagothane, which is 10 Kms. away from site and the nearest port is Mumbai.

The company has always shown continuous urge for upgradation and expansion in all these years of its existence.

To further augment its presence in the pipe industry, MSL made a foray in the ERW pipe category in the year 2000. It has put up a plant at Raigad, Maharashtra, capable of producing ERW pipes having OD range between 168.3 mm to 500 mm NB and wall thickness of 3.2 mm to 12.7 mm with present installed capacity of 200000 TPA, making India’s first par excellence largest outer diameter pipe manufacturer using ERW technology. The quality is unsurpassed and the product well accepted & appreciated in the market. This plant is catering for requirement of large diameter ERW pipes for applications in the field of natural gas, crude oil, refineries and other core sector industry like fertilizers etc.

Today, Maharashtra Seamless Limited can meet customer’s requirements both for Seamless and ERW pipes and is the 1st and only manufacturer in India of seamless & ERW Pipes up to 20” OD. This has contributed in overall improved performance of the company. The turnover of the company for the year ended 31.03.2023 is approx. Rs. 5216 crores.

Maharashtra Seamless Limited has also diversified in the renewable energy business since 2011 with a total 65.5 MW capacity solar power generation plants in the district Jaisalmer, Jodhpur in Rajasthan & Maharashtra under National Solar Mission Scheme of NVVN & VIPC under power purchase agreement.

In the year 2007-08 the company acquired Seamless Plant from Romania having an installed capacity of 200000 TPA to manufacture Seamless Pipe upto 6” OD. The plant has been established at Mangaon, Vile Bhagad, Maharashtra near the existing plant. This plant was commissioned in the year 2012.

The Government of Maharashtra has conferred the status of “Mega Project” to company’s’ aforesaid project. This will enable the company to avail various incentives from Government of Maharashtra in due course.

We MSL are Proud to announce that, under the leadership of Government make in india program, we have developed an imported substitute, THE SUBSEA LINE PIPES for the first time in india for ONGC.

Sub-sea Line Pipes are Riser pipes are usually laid under the sea to withstand and perform under most stringent sour service environments and for transportation of oil and gas. We approached ONGC for developing these import substitute line pipes a decade back investing on our visionand the support and guidance from the Government and ONGC the manufacturing and inspection & testing facilities were updated and upgrade with the changes happended occurred adecade back in the specification.

Apart from sub sea pipe, we also started manufacturing Drill Pipes and cylinder pipes as substitute of import in india. No compromise on Quality Concept, We made as achieved this proud moment. We dedicate this great achievement to the nation.

4. UNITED SEAMLESS TUBULAAR PRIVATE LIMITED (USTPL) (MSL - Telangana Unit)

D.P Jindal Group acquired Maharashtra Seamless Limited (Telangana Unit), which is hot rolled seamless pipe & tubes manufacturing mill strategically located at Narketpally distt. Nalgonda (Telangana ) with an easy acess to Chennai, kakinda, Visakhapatnam, Krishnapatnama and Mumbai ports by road and rail. It is about 90 Kms from the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad, India.

This mill is equipped with the latest state of the art FQM (Fine Quality Mill) 3 roll Retained Mandrel Mill Technology supplied by Danieli, Italy. The FQM is radially adjustable longitudinal rolling mill, which uses the Retained Mandrel technology in combination with 3-roll pass design with 5 stands. Danieli also ranks among three largest suppliers of plant and equipment to the metal industry, worldwide. The pipes made from this mill have ample advantages over other Seamless mills such as:

- Closer wall thickness tolerances.

- Enhanced surface finish on OD & ID.

- Improved Pipe OD accuracy.

- Higher OD to wall thickness ratios.

- High degree of production flexibility, versatility, efficiency and yield.

The mill has the best in industry online process control to ensure stringent wall thickness and OD dimensional tolerances in the size ranges of 4½”-14½”. Test facility at USTPL includes Tensile, Hardness, Charpy Impact test, Hydrostatic test (including alternative test pressure), MPI, NDT-UT, MT, EMI and Metallographic evaluation.

High collapse grades for Casing are specially designed for high collapse resistance by controlling the dimensional tolerances covering Ovality, Roundness, Wall thickness, Straightness and Outside diameter. Mill offers special grades to meet sour service and high- pressure high-temperature applications as well.

The mill has capacity of 3,50,000 TPA & have a speclised production facility in Line Pipes, OCTG, Boiler, Cylinder Pipes, Mechanical & Structural Pipes in both Carbon & Alloy steel grades to serve the Energy, Petrochemical, Engineering, Construction and OEM sectors.

The mill holds Certification for Quality Management System ISO 9001:2015, Occupational Health Safety System ISO 45001: 2018 & Environmental Management System ISO 14001:2015. Similarly, we hold certification of approval as Well Known Pipe & Tube Maker from Central Boiler Board.

Manufacturing facilities at USTPL will play very important role in the import substitution for the critical applications segment of the seamless pipes like Gas Cylinder, Large Diameter Thin Wall, High alloyed OCTG, Thick wall mechanical pipes, Large diameter hydraulic cylinder pipes.
