Maharashtra Seamless Limited uses the latest and world renowned CPE TECHNOLOGY acquired through technical collaboration with German giant MANNESMANN DEMAG HUTTENTECHNIK GMBH.

The CPE (CROSS ROLL PIERCING AND ELONGATION) process begins with the piercing of a hot billet on the Piercer, followed by crimping and then elongation on the Push Bench and finally, the dimensions are controlled within specified tolerances on the stretch Reducing Mill.

It also ensures meticulous control over wall thickness variations as compared to other manufacturing processes. Seamless tubes, unlike welded tubes, are preferred for applications where strength, resistance to corrosion, microstructure and product life are important.

 

This process minimizes longitudinal and transverse defects in the pipes & tubes. It also ensures better control over wall thickness variation as compared to other manufacturing processes. Superior technologies and excellent heat treatment facilities available, enables MSL to produce OCTG range in higher grades like N-80, L-80, C-95, P-IIO, Q-125. Stainless steel seamless pipes and tubes are manufactured from the best quality of raw material which is subjected to proper inspection for structural soundness and chemical composition. Hot finished pipes undergo solution annealing (water quenching) process, machine straightened and pickled. They are sold as hot finished pipes.Cold finished tubes are also available depending upon the end use applications.

 

Cold finishing is being done either by cold pilgering or by cold drawing. In either case, once the final size is achieved, these tubes are solution annealed, machine straightened, pickled and passivated before despatch. The tubes undergo thorough inspection for dimensional tolerances, and tested hydraulically and mechanically according to specifications. Additional Non Destructive tests (N.D.T.) such as eddy current testing, ultrasonic testing and electromagnetic inspection (E.M.I), corrosion testing micro structural examination, grain size control etc. are carried out if required by agreement with buyer.

MSL manufactures wide range of seamless pipes and tubes conforming to exacting standards and specification like ASTM, DIN, BS, and other equivalents to International specifications. MSL is the largest supplier of line pipes, casings and tubings as per API 5L and 5CT specification for use in the Oil Explorations and drilling Sector.

We have adequate heat treatment facilities to make OCTG range in higher grades like N-80, L-80, C-95, P-110, Q-125. MSL manufactures bearing tubes conforming to SAE 52100 both in hot finished and cold pilfered conditions in fully Spherodised annealed condition for easy Machining to achieve final Dimension. Steel used is produced by Electric Are Furnace and Vacuum Degassed.

We are using PLUG MILL technology to manufacture large size Seamless Pipes of diameter upto 14" and wall thickness 40 mm. PLUG MILL Process is a proven process for manufacturing of higher diameter Seamless Pipes using a round billet heating up to the plastic stage of steel and piercing in across roll piercer. Further elongation through a plug mill in which the thick wall hot hollow will be rolled through a pair of top and bottom roll with a plug inside the hollow to give better internal surface finish and to control the ID.

World Class Reelers are used to imporve the wall thickness circumferentially, to achieve close tolerance on the Wall Thickness. As the OD and the ID are controlled by external & internal tooling during hot rolling in Plug Mill and Reller, the pipe will have close tolerance, to cater to the requirements of OCTG and other applications.
